Fissure Seals

A Fissure Sealant is a protective coating placed in the deep grooves of the back teeth.

It helps stop food sticking in these deep grooves and significantly lowers the risk of tooth decay. Fissure sealants can be placed on the teeth from age 4. No injections or drilling are involved. After the procedure you can eat and drink as normal.

The back molar teeth usually have very deep grooves on the chewing surfaces where food becomes stuck and is very difficult to remove. A fissure sealant is a hard resin coating which fills in the deep grooves of the back teeth and helps to prevent food from getting stuck and thus helps to prevent decay.
